God has given us the Sabbath, to help downshift from the demands of the world that cause wear and tear on our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
It is a gift, grace, practice and pace, which sounds lovely, but can often feel like just one more thing to wedge into our overflowing schedules.
Figuring out how to begin, doesn't need to be an added stressor.
Carve out some time today to imagine and dream about what a day of Sabbath rest could look like for you. Write down your ideas to create a restful day for the purpose of spending time with God and others using the following questions and Barb Roose's ESPN framework.
- What day next week will you Sabbath?
- Who can I connect with and how?
- What do I need to clean, cook, or schedule in advance?
- How do I keep my device from distracting me?

S - Suspend Appointments and Obligations: Don't schedule anything on your calendar, including housework or errands.
P- Plan Ahead: Be intentional about creating time with God to reflect on his goodness to you in the previous week.
N- No Electronic Dependance: Use your devices only if they don't interfere with the overall goal of making space for you to receive from God.
