Chore charts. Allowance. Money.

How do we set our kids up for money management success as thriving and generous adults? It starts now.

We recommend "Financial Peace Kids."

"We have used these Financial Peace principles with our sons. The concepts of working, giving, saving and spending have created money rhythms and responsibility in our home. Spending earned money on things that matter teach our kids the importance of hard work and wise decisions. When it comes to giving, we are so thankful to be a part of a church where our money goes towards such a worthy mission. Our boys know they are participating in bringing help and hope to people all over the world." - Sarah

Check out these Family Devotionals to explore God's wisdom on these topics.

WEEK 1

Big Idea: God made everything, so everything belongs to Him.

Scripture: "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it." Psalm 24:1

Family Conversation:

  • What are some things you have?
  • Who gave you those things?
  • How can we thank God for what He has given us?

Family Activity: Go on a "God's Gifts" scavenger hunt.  Find: something beautiful, something useful, something fun, someone you love. Talk about how each one is a gift from God.

Family Challenge: Each night this week, have everyone share one thing they're thankful God has given them.

Prayer: "God, thank You for everything You have given us. Help us remember that it all belongs to You."

WEEK 2

Big Idea: God takes care of us, so we can trust Him.

Scripture: "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else." Matthew 6:33

Family Conversation:

  • What worries do kids sometimes have?
  • What worries do adults sometimes have?
  • How can we remember God is with us when we're worried?

Family Activity: Create a "Trust Box." Decorate a box or jar and place worries inside as they're shared throughout the week. Pray over them together.

Family Challenge: Whenever someone in the family says they're worried, pause and pray together.

Prayer: "Jesus, help us trust You when we feel scared or uncertain."

WEEK 3

Big Idea: God loves when we share and help others.

Scripture: "God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

Family Conversation:

  • Has someone ever shared something with you?
  • How did that make you feel?
  • What can we share with others?

Family Activity: Choose one act of kindness together: deliver cookies, write encouragement cards, donate toys, help a neighbor, buy someone's coffee, etc.

Family Challenge: Create a "Generosity Jar." Every time someone does something kind or generous, place a marble, coin, or piece of paper in the jar. Celebrate at the end of the week.

Prayer: "God, give us hearts that love helping and sharing with others."

WEEK 4

Big Idea: What we do first shows what matters most to us.

Scripture: "Honor the Lord with your wealth." Proverbs 3:9

Family Conversation:

  • What are your favorite things?
  • What is most important in our family?
  • How can we put God first every day?

Family Activity: Create a family priorities poster. Include pictures or words representing: God, family, church, friends, serving others, etc. Hang it somewhere visible.

Family Challenge: Start every day this week with one minute of prayer together before school.

Prayer: "God, help us put You first in our choices, our time, and our lives."
