The LivingItOut
devotional has been a part of CedarCreek Church since the mid-2000s. What
started as a weekly printed handout has grown into a daily posted devotional, and it continues to help readers
take Biblical principles from the weekend message deeper into their week.
The heart behind the LivingItOut
goes back to our founding pastor, Lee Powell, who challenged our church to “Dig
Deeper.” In 2013, in an email to the staff team at the time, he
wrote:
“Wouldn’t it be amazing
if every weekend the thousands who hear the message actually live it out? …
It’s been my dream that we all get on the same page each week. Going deeper
with each weekend talk, living it out, talking about it, praying through it,
challenging each other in it.”
— Lee Powell
That dream is the
heartbeat of the LivingItOut: to help people engage, reflect, and
respond to what God is teaching through the weekend message.
How We Do It
Written by a dedicated and passionate DreamTeam of volunteers, working alongside a CedarCreek staff member, the
LivingItOut brings together writers, editors, proofers, administrators,
and a coordinator who use their unique gifts to serve God and help others grow
in faith.
Every week, they create
seven unique devotions full of meaningful content that inspires real-life
application of God’s truth. Each day is designed to help you live out
your faith beyond the weekend message.
The original team of LivingItOut writers would meet weekly in a room at
the church and write, edit, and proof all in one sitting! Over time, they incorporated
some remote work as technology advanced, and then the LivingItOut got a
dedicated "Bible Study" landing page around 2006.
In
2008, the church rolled out a dedicated website, LivingItOut.tv, to continue
the devotional’s mission of digging deeper. The website had downloadable
materials and resources to help people connect to the weekend message in a
whole new way.
Today, you can access
the LivingItOut with an email subscription or right inside The Daily on the
CedarCreek App. It's is just one of the next steps The Daily inspires people to
take each day! However you choose to engage, every devotion reflects the heart
and care of a team committed to helping the spiritually restless turn to Jesus.
The LivingItOut’s
Guiding Principles
Vision:
The LivingItOut Team exemplifies CedarCreek’s value that every person
matters to God by using their gifts to create weekly devotionals that draw
people closer to Him.
Guiding Scripture:
“These are written
so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God,
and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name.”
— John 20:31
Team Results:
Through the creative writing of the LivingItOut team, guests are shown
how much they matter to God and are challenged to live out the weekend
message—taking real next steps in their spiritual journey.
From its earliest
printed form to today’s digital version inside The Daily, the DreamTeam’s
mission remains unchanged: to help our church family learn, grow, and live
it out—together.
Colossians 2:7 NLT
Let your roots grow down into him, and
let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth
you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
