I love the excitement that builds before Super Bowl Sunday! Anticipation of the half-timeshow, the commercials that start popping up, the conversations that convey the excitement of the fans, and deciding which side to root for. I also love that CedarCreek Church gets in on some of that fun too! Preach Off includes all the elements of the Super Bowl with the added benefit of sharing God's word. It’s just something you have to experience for yourself! It’s also a great reminder that Scripture doesn’t have to be boring or hard to understand. God’s word can light up your life!
Psalm119:130
The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand.
Jesus was a master at presenting God’s word in a way that resonated with people. Preach Off is just one way that CedarCreek presents the word of God in a fun, practical, and relatable way—showcasing America’s love of football. And why not? God’s message is intended for everyone—even regular, everyday football fans—because he invites everyone to participate in his adventure.
The way we gear up for the “big game” is much like a dog expectantly waiting for his master to play fetch, or the way babies hold their mouths open in expectation of their food.
Psalm119:131
I pant with expectation, longing for your commands.
In the same way, when we, as Jesus followers, dive deeper into the wisdom the Bible offers through reading and listening to his Word, we get to know God better and learn about his love for us. God’s Word is just as powerful and relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago.
Psalm119:132-133
132 Come and show me your mercy, as you do for all who love your name. 133 Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil.
As we familiarize ourselves with his Word, we learn God is ready to give us his mercy and grace, but we have to trust him. Sometimes life seems uncertain, and we aren’t quite sure where we are going. We need a guide to help us navigate the ups and downs, and that’s exactly what God can do for us. Give your life to Jesus. Immerse yourself in his Word, and let him guide your steps.
