Bottom Line: Jesus is the way.

Read: Luke 5:1-11

Can you recall a time your child had anxiety in an unknown environment? Maybe as a toddler in a mall play space, or as a student in a new classroom? How good does it feel when they just need to look and see you are with them to have their anxiety put to ease?

How about when your child thinks they know it all and decides to go against your advice? That gets less cute as our children get older, and probably doesn’t feel as great.

Trust is the cornerstone of any relationship, especially a parent-child relationship. The more trust there is, the more that relationship will thrive. God wants us to trust Him in the same way. We may have a lot of experience, knowledge and skill and think we can just go our own way. But God’s ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Tonight, your kid camper will learn about Simon Peter, a fisherman who encounters Jesus, after a long night of fishing with no fish to show for it. Jesus asks Simon Peter to do something that definitely goes against his better judgment. But we see that trusting and following Jesus is always the right choice, because as tonight’s Bottom Line will teach our kids – Jesus is the Way.

How are you trusting God in your life today? What is keeping you from trusting Jesus, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6)? Talk with your child tonight about what they learned and discuss how your family can trust and follow Jesus as the Way!

Prayer

Dear God, help me to see that Your ways are always best. Thank You for Jesus; who is the Way, the Truth and the Life! I trust Your goodness and love for me and my family. Guide us to follow Jesus as the Way to the best life. Thank You that You don’t expect us to be perfect. Lead me and my family to learn to follow You and to obey You in the steps You want us to take. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
