Bottom Line: The Holy Spirit helps me.
Read: Acts 2:1-4 and Acts 2:42-47
We read about God’s indwelling spirit – the Holy Spirit – rushing upon the early believers through howling wind and fire. Can you imagine the scene? Then, Peter boldly stands up and introduces the crowd to Jesus. He explains that we are saved and forgiven through Jesus, that we are to be baptized in His name, and that we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Tonight your children will learn that “The Holy Spirit Helps Me.”
And guess what – the Holy Spirt helps you too. If you’re raising humans, I can guarantee you need a little help. We work, we clean, we cook, we drive, we comfort, we ... ok, this list could be endless! And sometimes the days FEEL endless, and we’re a bit undone from all our doing.
But take heart! You have been gifted the powerful presence of the Almighty God who promises to help. In a later message Peter says, “By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence." 2 Peter 1:3
So today, ask for help. Know that God’s Spirit will give you everything you need to parent in Jesus’ name. Summer doesn’t always feel slower and laundry still keeps coming. But we follow a King who gives us everything we need.
What do you need the Holy Spirit to help you with today?
Prayer
Dear God, I love knowing that kids will hear this powerful truth tonight. I pray that my child will choose to follow You and be filled with your Spirit. God, I need your Spirit too. I pray You will help me know You more and learn to recognize the ways You speak to me. I don’t want to miss You. Help me God. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
