Colossians 3:16
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

What message is filling your life?

In 2 Peter 1, the apostle Peter urges us to remember the truth we already know and to pay attention to God's Word like "a light shining in a dark place." He wasn't sharing spiritual theory or folklore. Peter was an eyewitness to the power and presence of Jesus. And that same voice that spoke over Jesus, now speaks through the pages of Scripture, guiding us, challenging us, and giving us peace.

What you believe about the Bible will shape how you live. In a world overflowing with opinions, distractions, and so-called truths, we need a steady, trustworthy voice. Christ's followers hear this voice in Scripture.

As we look ahead and explore what it means to let the Bible have true authority in our lives, it becomes something we live by, not just something we read.

Get ready to be reminded, refreshed, and re-centered around the truth that God's Word is not only reliable, but transformational.

Discussion Questions:

Ice Breaker: What's one quote, lyric, or verse you've memorized, and why has it stuck with you?

Why do you think reminders about reading and learning Scripture are so important in a church community?

Read 2 Peter 1:12–21 (NIV): Peter emphasizes that the message of Jesus is not based on "cleverly devised stories" but on eyewitness accounts. How does this affirmation of Scripture's authority affect the way you approach the Bible?

Think about a time when reading or remembering Scripture brought you clarity, comfort, or conviction. What verse (or verses) was it, and how did it speak to your situation?

Reflect and Respond: What is one step you can take this week to give Scripture a greater voice in your daily life?

Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for giving me Scripture and for all the ways I have the freedom to hear your voice through the written Word. Thank you that it is alive and active, full of truth, wisdom, and grace. Please help me not to take it for granted but to treasure it, meditate on it, and let it shape my thoughts, actions, and decisions. Let it take root in my heart and overflow in how I live and love. In Jesus' name, I pray, amen.

Series Theme Verse:

Psalm 85:8
I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways.
