New Testament Reading Plan: 2 Corinthians 9

Jesus gives us a simple command: "Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." (John 13:34–35)

This command reminds us that love is not just a feeling but an action that shapes our relationships and demonstrates our identity as followers of Christ.

Relationships thrive when we contribute fully. When we speak up, show up, and serve, we reflect Christ's love. This reflection guides us on a path of unity and wholeness with one another. To do this, we shouldn't keep score or expect a perfect 50/50 exchange of love. Genuine connection grows when we give generously, even when it's inconvenient or uncomfortable. When we take initiative, we often inspire others to respond with mutual love and affection.

Of course, we won't get it right every time. There will be moments of impatience, self-centeredness, or even bitterness.

But Jesus shows us a better way. When we follow his command to love and focus our hearts on living as he did - in humility and service - it can transform our relationships. This way of life shifts our focus from what we can get to what we can give. Then, as we consistently act with love, the world sees Christ reflected in us.

Let's all reflect the heart of Jesus to those around us by putting these principles into practice. Speak up to encourage someone, show up even when it's inconvenient, and serve others with a joyful heart. Then you will prove to the world how relationships flourish when love takes the lead.

Questions:
What practical step can you take this week to reflect Christ's love in an action, not just words?

What's one area where you tend to keep score or hold back in your relationships, and how can you shift to a generous mindset?

Next Steps:
Identify one person this week who could use encouragement and intentionally share words of support or appreciation.

Commit to being present - physically, emotionally, or spiritually - for someone, even if it's inconvenient.

Look for at least one way to serve someone without expecting anything in return.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for showing us what true love looks like through Jesus. Help me to speak up with encouragement, show up with presence, and serve with a joyful heart. Cleanse my motives and remove selfishness, impatience, or bitterness from my heart so that my actions reflect your love. In Jesus' name, amen.

Series Theme Verse:
Romans 12:17-18
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
