New Testament Reading Plan: 1 Timothy 1

I was recently at a point in my life where I felt overwhelmingly stuck. I was struggling with mental illness, chronic pain, and other personal battles. Some days, I didn’t know how I was going to make it through. I felt hopeless, knowing there was nothing I could do on my own to help myself.

One night, I was feeling particularly low. But as I laid in the darkness of my room, a still, quiet peace entered my heart, and I felt God’s warmth wash over me.

Although things were really hard, I knew that God and the Holy Spirit were with me through it all, every step of the way. By divine intervention and my newfound hope, I made it through that season, and now, I’m more content than ever before.

Philippians 3:3b
We rely on what Christ Jesus has done for us. We put no confidence in human effort.

The truth is, God doesn’t expect us to have it all together. He does not ask us to check off a list of accomplishments to earn his love, and he definitely doesn’t expect us to do life on our own. He is always with us to guide us, paving the way to a future with the freedom and joy that only he can provide.

In my heart, I held tight to the truth that God is always working to fulfill the good work that he started in us (Philippians 1:6), even during roadblocks and seasons of pain. As you have probably already heard - the only way out of a battle is through it. Thankfully, we can find peace during our hardships, knowing that the Lord has a purpose for our lives and remembering that his plan triumphs over any suffering or seemingly hopeless circumstances.

Although I couldn’t see it back then, my struggles led me to put my trust and future in God’s plans, and he saw me through it. By removing the confidence we place in human effort, we allow him to help us become unstuck. Let’s never forget that, despite whatever we may be facing, God is still in control, and he’s always working to move us forward in his perfect plan and purpose for our lives.

Questions:
When was the last time you felt stuck?

How did you hold tight to the Lord throughout these circumstances?

Next Steps:
Lay your current circumstances in Jesus’ hands through prayer.

Journal about what you are going through or speak to a trusted friend or spiritual mentor.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thanks for being with us in every aspect of our lives. Remind me that you are always in control and that you have good plans for me. Please fill my heart with peace and hope throughout my struggles and remind me that you are with me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Series Theme Verse:

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.
