You never know how great saying YES could be

“When it comes to saying YES to God, truly just be open-handed because you truly don't know what a YES could look like until you say YES. You never know how great it could actually be.” - Jadyn

Jadyn grew up in church but, like most, had a hard time staying connected during COVID. Once services went live again in person, Jadyn began attending and had the opportunity to grow and learn here at CedarCreek.

But, she knew there was more she could do. She wanted to learn more about her purpose and be there for others, like her church community, who were there for her when she needed it most. Jadyn said that seeing “all of those people who were there for me… I was like, wow, there really is a difference in these people, and I want to be like them.” She didn’t just want comfort; she wanted to become the kind of person who offers it.

To take the next step, she started GrowthTrack to start the onboarding process for Kids ministry. But while she was going through GrowthTrack, she learned more about how God wired her, and to her surprise, she said YES to going in a different direction. She began serving on the first impressions team. Even though she was a little nervous talking to new people, she knew that “in order to grow, you're going to have to go through hard things… you're not gonna get any growth from just being stagnant.”

It was through serving that Jadyn learned more about her purpose and applied to the internship program at CedarCreek. Throughout the internship, she got to learn more about how she’s “not going to get everything right… and just being okay with that.” It also helped her understand herself: “We dove into why I do things the way I do”. This journey helped her step out of her comfort zone and into the life God wanted her to live.

During her internship, she took time to grow more personally and joined a young women's Group. Joining a Group made the Gospel real and painted a reason to study the Bible, and dove into more meaning and context.

Jadyn continued to say YES to what God had for her and said a bigger YES than she could have imagined. This summer, she said YES to serving kids on military bases in Germany. She will be able to be a part of kids' support systems, and while she knew she was “already doing enough stuff that is making me uncomfortable”, she still stepped in with open hands and said YES to God.

God showed her to live one day at a time and to hold scripture close to her heart. One verse Jadyn continues to live by is Colossians 1:17 (NIV): “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together”. Jadyn said, “My life might feel like it’s falling apart, but no, God has it together. I don't need to have my life put together.” She continues showing humility by having faith in God, living with open hands, and saying YES to him, letting him write her story.

Jadyn will fly back from Germany in August 2026 and will be stepping into a part-time role with Students at the CedarCreek Oregon campus. She is on the best adventure of her life with Jesus, ready to live one day at a time, simply living with a servant mind and open heart.

Stories like Jadyn’s are wonderful examples of how saying YES to God can shape the direction of our lives and take us places we never imagined we’d go.
