Volunteering means different things to different people. For some it's a resume line. For others it's a way to feel less guilty about not doing enough. At CedarCreek Perrysburg, we've found it tends to become something else entirely once people actually get into it — a genuine source of community, purpose, and growth that's hard to find anywhere else.
Here's what serving actually looks like at our Perrysburg campus.
Second Saturday: Show Up Once, Come Back Every Month
The second Saturday of every month, a group of CedarCreek Perrysburg volunteers heads out into the community for hands-on outreach. The projects change month to month — serving nursing home residents, distributing food and essentials to families in need, supporting people experiencing homelessness, helping at-risk kids — but the format stays consistent. Show up, get placed with a team, and spend a few hours doing something that genuinely matters.
What keeps people coming back isn't obligation. It's the other people. When you spend a Saturday morning serving alongside someone, you learn things about them that months of small talk wouldn't reveal. A lot of the most meaningful friendships at CedarCreek Perrysburg started on a Second Saturday.
It's also one of the most accessible entry points we have. No prior experience, no long-term commitment, no membership required. Just show up and see what it's like.
Campus Outreach Teams: Consistent, Relational Serving
For those who want something more ongoing than a monthly event, our outreach groups partner with local organizations on a regular basis — building real, sustained relationships with the communities and people they serve rather than just showing up once in a while.
These teams work alongside organizations addressing food insecurity, homelessness, and other pressing needs in the Perrysburg area. Being part of an outreach group means committing to something over time, and that consistency is what makes the work genuinely transformational — for the people being served and for the volunteers themselves.
The DreamTeam: Serve Where You're Gifted
Serving at CedarCreek Perrysburg doesn't only happen in the community. Our DreamTeam powers everything that happens on campus every weekend — hospitality, kids ministry, production, parking, worship support, and more. With over a hundred roles available and schedules ranging from weekly to once a month, there's something that fits your gifts, your personality, and your actual life.
Serving on the DreamTeam is different from community outreach in an important way: you serve the same people, in the same role, week after week. That repetition builds something. You become part of a team that relies on each other, knows each other, and shows up for each other. It's one of the most reliable ways to find a deep community at CedarCreek Perrysburg.
The best starting point for finding the right DreamTeam role is GrowthTrack — our free 4-week program that helps you identify your gifts, your personality, and your purpose, then connects you to the serving opportunity that's actually the right fit. It runs one week per month at the Perrysburg campus on Saturdays at 5p and Sundays at 10a.

Groups That Serve Together
Some of our groups at CedarCreek Perrysburg are built specifically around outward-facing community impact — combining the relational depth of a small group with regular, shared service experiences. If you're someone who connects better through doing than through sitting and talking, these groups tend to be a particularly good fit.
All of our groups are semester-based and meet throughout the Perrysburg area. You can browse what's available, reach out to a leader, and try a couple before settling on the one that feels right.
Serve Day: The Biggest Day of the Year
Once a year, our entire church mobilizes for one day of community-wide impact. This year's Serve Day is July 25th. From painting at a women's shelter to packing gifts for first responders to serving at local schools — there are projects for every age and ability level. It's one of those days that tends to shift something in the people who show up for it.
If you've been on the fence about getting involved at CedarCreek Perrysburg, Serve Day is one of the best first experiences we can point you toward.
