This is a group for people who would like flexible serving opportunities to make a difference in our community, show people that we care, and let our light shine at the City Mission. There are many open spots with flexible hours each week that we can fill, whenever our individual schedules allow. Serve times are done in groups of 2-3 people in time-slots ranging from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday-Saturday, and also a couple spots on Sunday evenings. You can volunteer each week or how often you would like doing various activities such as food prep, serving, cleanup, and handing meals out the back drive-thru window. Anyone 10 years old and up is welcome to join us in serving! We will be using the GroupMe app to communicate serve schedules with each other. We will pray for each other, share scripture and words of encouragement to support each other and our journey with Christ, share stories of how God is working in our lives, and share our serving experiences with each other along the way. Help make a difference through being a friend to seniors at Blue Creek Skilled Nursing in Whitehouse. The school will identify students who could benefit from a mentoring relationship. Some students are facing social, economic, family and or academic challenges, or they are at a point in their lives where they will especially benefit from an additional positive and encouraging adult who spends time with them. You will be paired with a student based on similar interests and then have the opportunity to sit with them for lunch and go out to recess with them. STEM Tech offers a dynamic group setting where participants have fun, develop STEM skills, and grow as a team. This group is tailored for kids in grades 6-9 who will attend with an adult partner—such as a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, older sibling, or mentor. Adult participation is mandatory. Our hybrid STEM Tech group merges coding, robotics, and engineering. No prior experience is required since kids interested in technology typically pick up new skills quickly. Our fall semester starts Sept 24. This year, we'll build on previous work with Micro Bit and Arduino as we explore 3D printing. We’ll provide the laptops and software but may need to meet off-site once a month to print our 3D models. Each session lasts about two hours and includes hands-on building time, a short Bible lesson, and a snack. Participation is free, though there may be a fee for 3D printing projects.

The Clothing Closet will accept donations of clothing from the community, sort and prepare them for display and then open our doors for those in need to shop on every second Saturday of the month. There are many different jobs that need to be done to begin this service to our community. We need people to help set up the room, advertise it to the community, sort the clothes, display the clothes in an appealing manner and, most importantly, help people shop. This group meets on Wednesdays from 6:00pm-8:00pm and Fridays from 10:00am-12:00pm. We sort and display the donations on these days. You are not expected to be there on both days, it's a very flexible outreach group.

Looking to serve others in need? Join our food pantry team to serve those in the Toledo area by helping them shop at the pantry, guiding them, befriending them and just making each person feel they are valued as they attend the pantry twice a month. Team members are asked to serve at least once a semester but are needed once a week on average to help stock shelves, clean, think of ways to improve the pantry, in addition to serving on pantry day. Mature students age 14 and above are permitted to help and we will certify community service hours if they need it for school. 2nd & 4th Saturdays 10:30am. SPECIAL NOTE: The pantry itself will be held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month and will be at Memorial UCC at 1301 Starr Ave in Toledo. We will have a group meeting on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 12:30pm at CedarCreek Church Oregon.
