September Blog

September is already almost done. It feels like it was just yesterday that it was August. Surprisingly, not a whole lot of excitement has gone on this month. The major project that was going on was the renovations in the South atrium and the main hallway at the Perrysburg campus. The main undertaking was that the old speakers in the South atrium needed replaced, which means that they needed taken down, new speaker wire and network cabling needed ran, then the new speakers needed installed. All of which happened over the course of several weeks. Tad was out of the office for about a week and a half for paternity leave, so it was just Brent and I doing a fair amount of the work.

As this was all going on, there were other side jobs that were being completed. I put together a new rack for the sound equipment that will be installed behind the New Family desk. There were more laptops and PCs that needed re-imaged so they can be given to staff members. Some old PCs needed their RAM sticks removed and their SSDs needed wiped so they can be sold. For the internship class, we had a day retreat at the 577 foundation. It reminded me of Simpson Gardens in Bowling Green, with the trails and the peacefulness found throughout the area. We went over Your Journey and all of the different domains that are a part of our adventure. It was a good feeling to understand what all was going on in my life and what domains needed improved upon. I am now just past the 60 day mark and cannot wait for what is to come in the next coming months.

August Blog

It has been one month since I have started my internship journey. Here's a look at what all has happened throughout the month August. First project was setting up IPads that would be implemented across the different campuses. Around this time we also set up new speakers inside the main Kids hallway at the Perrysburg campus.

While this was going on was the Global Leadership Summit (GLS). This was my first time attending GLS and was a great first experience. My favorite speakers were Craig Groeschel on Day 1 and Arthur Brooks on Day 2. Craig spoke on pattern recognition and how to break unhealthy patterns. I liked how Craig said that "Maturity isn't measured by what you know, but by what you notice." Arthur Brooks spoke about neuroscience. He spoke about the difference between the right-hemisphere of the brain and the left-hemisphere.

Following GLS, we started the implementation of the IPads we set up earlier in the month. We set up West Toledo's IPads, then went to South Toledo the following week. Next set of IPads are to be rolled out in April. Currently we are working on imaging new laptops and desktops to be given to those with old/outdated machinery.

This month, we also had one of the largest events for our church being the DreamTeam Launch. This was an event where all of the staff came together and celebrate all that the volunteers do for our church and to cast vision into the next ministry season. I was part of the setup/teardown crew. I helped with cabling and putting together the truss system that holds up the lights and the amps.

It has been a busy month filled with new projects and adventures and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me throughout the rest of the internship.
