Gratitude 

Thank God for a time when He helped you see something clearly that you didn’t understand before.

Prayer 

God, help me let go of what is holding me back so I can see you more clearly.Scripture 

Mark 10:50 

“Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus.” 

Now, read Mark 10:46–52. 

Bartimaeus had a lot of reasons to stay where he was. He was blind, sitting on the side of the road, known by his condition. That was his identity. That was his reality. 

And when he cried out to Jesus, the crowd tried to shut him down. They told him to be quiet—to stay in his place. But he didn’t listen to the crowd. He shouted louder. 

Then something interesting happens. When Jesus calls him, the first thing Bartimaeus does is throw aside his coat. 

That coat wasn’t random—it was part of his life. It represented comfort, security, and everything he was used to. Letting go of it meant leaving behind what he knew, even before he knew what Jesus would do. That’s what real trust looks like. 

Before he could see clearly, Bartimaeus had to let go of what he was holding onto. The crowd, the comfort, even his identity tied to his condition. The same is true for us. 

Sometimes we hold onto things because they feel safe—even if they aren’t true or healthy. The approval of others. The version of ourselves we’ve built. The labels we’ve accepted. The habits that keep us comfortable. 

But when you can’t see clearly, you cling tightly. And sometimes the thing you need most is to let go first. Because seeing clearly doesn’t start with having all the answers—it starts with releasing what’s been holding you back.
