CedarCreek: Faith Exploration + Hands-On Volunteering

Church Community: Soarion Digital

Monday, June 15, 2026

At CedarCreek, faith isn't something that just happens on Sunday morning. It's something you live out, in your neighborhood, alongside your neighbors, in ways that actually make a difference. If you've been looking for a community in Northwest Ohio where spiritual growth and hands-on serving go hand in hand, you've found it.

Whether you're new to faith, skeptical, or have been following Jesus your whole life, there's a place for you here, and a way to get involved that fits who you are.

CedarCreek's Faith-Based Volunteer Groups

Our volunteer groups are built around one idea: that serving others is one of the most authentic expressions of faith there is. When you show up for a nursing home resident who hasn't had a visitor in months, or pack food for a family that's struggling, something happens to you too. That's not a coincidence — it's the point.

Every campus hosts monthly experiences to serve nursing home residents, people experiencing homelessness, at-risk kids, and more. These aren't one-off events — they're consistent, organized opportunities that make it easy to show up regularly and build real relationships with the people you serve.

Volunteering Opportunities Across All Six Campuses

We have six campuses across Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Findlay, Oregon, South Toledo, West Toledo, and Whitehouse, and every one of them is an active hub for community service. Here's how you can get involved:

  • Second Saturday Serve: Second Saturdays are the easiest way to get involved in serving the local community. Once a month at every campus, teams head out for hands-on projects — serving nursing home residents, people experiencing homelessness, at-risk kids, and more. It's a great first step, low-pressure, and a genuinely fast way to meet people who share your values. Sign Up for a Second Saturday
  • Serve Day — July 25th: Our whole church rallies together one Saturday in July to tackle projects in the community — from painting at a women's shelter to packing gifts for first responders. It's one of our favorite days of the year and a powerful way to experience what CedarCreek is really about.
  • Groups: Participating in a Group is a great way to combine your passion with service to the community. These smaller, ongoing teams partner with local organizations consistently — building lasting relationships rather than just showing up once. Browse Groups
  • Year-Round Initiatives: Year round, we host a free medical clinic, provide automotive assistance to those in need, and team up with our partner schools to invest in the next generation. These programs run quietly and consistently because the people we serve need them week in and week out.
  • Mission Trips: Since 1998, CedarCreek has been making a global impact alongside local churches in places like Costa Rica and Honduras — serving, building relationships, and sharing hope. You don't have to be a CedarCreek member or have all your faith questions answered to participate. View Upcoming Mission Trips

FAQs

Q: What kinds of volunteering do CedarCreek faith groups do in nursing homes?

A: Our teams visit local nursing homes regularly through Second Saturday Serves — offering companionship, conversation, and genuine connection to residents who often go weeks without visitors. It's one of the most meaningful things we do.

Q: Can I volunteer if I'm new to faith or not sure what I believe?

A: Absolutely. You don't need a faith background or a membership card to serve with us. Everyone is welcome, and for a lot of people, serving is actually how they start to explore faith in a real way.

Q: How often do CedarCreek volunteering groups meet?

A: It depends on the opportunity. Second Saturday Serves happen monthly at every campus, Groups meet on their own schedules, and the DreamTeam has roles ranging from weekly to once a month. There's something that fits almost any schedule.

Q: Are there volunteering options for families or youth?

A: Yes — many of our serving opportunities are family-friendly, and CedarCreek Kids and Student Ministries both incorporate service as part of how they help the next generation grow in faith. It's a great way for families to serve together.

Q: Do I need to attend CedarCreek to go on a mission trip?

A: No. CedarCreek welcomes anyone who wants to participate in a mission trip, regardless of whether CedarCreek is your home church or where you are on your faith journey.
